CANADA’S NEW GOVERNOR GENERAL IS SWORN IN

🔸Canada’s new Governor General Louise Arbour was sworn into office and officially assumed her duties on June 8, 2026. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Canada E.Sarantogos attended the installation ceremony as the Dean of the Asia-Pacific Group of Heads of Mission in Canada, along with the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and other regional deans.

🔸During the reception held at Rideau Hall on the occasion of the installation of the Governor General, Ambassador E.Sarantogos greeted Her Excellency the Right Honourable Governor General Louise Arbour and conveyed congratulations from President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh.

🔸During the event, the Ambassador also met with Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney and discussed Mongolia-Canada relations. She expressed her belief that Mr. M.Carney would visit Mongolia to become the first Canadian Prime Minister to do so.

🔸The Right Honourable Governor General Louise Arbour is an expert in international law, human rights, and multilateral cooperation, whose carrier includes the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, a justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, and the President and CEO of the International Crisis Group. She also served as the chief prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda. On May 5, Prime Minister М.Carney announced that King Charles III had approved Arbour's appointment as the 31st Governor General of Canada.
