A FORUM MARKING THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN IN DIPLOMACY HELD IN OTTAWA
“Women in the Economic, Advancement and Empowerment Sphere” Forum was organized in Ottawa on June 10, 2026, by the Women Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Ottawa (WHDMO) in commemoration of the International Day of Women in Diplomacy.
The forum which aimed at promoting women’s leadership, enhancing their social participation, and strengthening international cooperation brought together approximately 100 participants representing the Government of Canada, the private sector, human rights, economic, financial and research institutions, non-governmental organizations, universities, associations, as well as Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Canada.
The Honourable Raymonde Gagné, Speaker of the Senate of Canada, attended the forum as a distinguished guest and delivered remarks on women’s leadership and their role in economic development.
H.E. Ms. Battsetseg Batmunkh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, conveyed a special message to the participants of the forum, which was presented during the forum.

Two panel discussions were held during the forum under the themes “The Economic Sphere” and “Advancement and Empowerment” with Senators and Members of Parliament, former diplomats and representatives of research institutions exchanging views on women’s economic and social participation, as well as related policies, decisions, and initiatives.
Ambassador of Mongolia to Canada E.Sarantogos has served as a member of the WHDMO’s Organizing Committee for the forum.
