“LE SPLEEN D’OULAN-BATOR” BOOK LAUNCHED
Ambassador of Mongolia to Canada E.Sarantogos congratulated and wished success to Canadian journalist Jean-Frédéric Légaré-Tremblay who presented his book “Le spleen d’Oulan-Bator” (“The Melancholy of Ulaanbaatar”) during the book fair held in Gatineau on February 21, 2026.
Jean-Frédéric Légaré-Tremblay introduced his book of journalistic, literary and philosophical hybrid traces which describes the author’s fascinating journey through the Mongolian culture as well as his journey into the heart of the boredom he encountered during the freezing winter in Ulaanbaatar.
The launch of the book “Le spleen d’Oulan-Bator” was also held earlier in Montreal and the Quebec City on January 21 and 22, 2026, respectively. Representatives of the Mongolian community in these cities attended the book events where they had an opportunity to have a warm discussion with the author about the book.
Jean-Frédéric Légaré-Tremblay works in the University of Montreal and a co-founder of the Québec Fund for International Journalism. He has worked as a journalist for the newspaper Le Devoir, the magazine L’actualité, and Radio-Canada, among other media outlets, as well as at the Centre for International Studies and Research (CÉRIUM).
