MONGOLIA AND CANADA COOPERATE IN THE FIELD OF TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING🇲🇳🇨🇦

✅Ambassador of Mongolia to Canada E.Sarantogos received representatives from the Ministry of Education of Mongolia, Global Affairs Canada and Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) on April 21, 2026, within the framework of the “SkillShift-Mongolia” project implemented by the Government of Canada in Mongolia.

✅During the meeting, Ms. N.Narangerel, Director of the Vocational and Technical Education Department, and Ms. S.Doljinsuren, Director of the Finance and Investment Department, Ministry of Education of Mongolia, highlighted the challenges facing Mongolia’s vocational and technical education sector and emphasized the importance of the project in addressing these issues. They also noted that the project aims to improve TVET curriculum, support public-private partnerships, enhance teachers’ skills, and, particularly, prepare a skillful workforce meeting labor market demands.

✅The “SkillShift-Mongolia” project, which is to be implemented over five years from 2025 to 2029, aims to (1) develop National Vocational Qualifications for priority occupations, (2) design leadership programs, (3) integrate gender policy into TVET, and

(4) train teachers and instructors.

✅David Harvey, the country representative of the “SkillShift-Mongolia” project, informed of the project’s implementation process and noted that the project is being carried out through Bayanchandmani college (Tuv Province), Khovd-Khugjil college (Khovd Province), and Arkhangai polytechnic college (Arkhangai Province) as well as Information Technology Institute added. Olds College, College of the North Atlantic, Humber Polytechnic, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Northern College, Niagara College, and Cambrian College are selected so far as implementing institutions from Canada.

✅Ambassador E.Sarantogos conveyed congratulations on the launch of the “SkillShift-Mongolia” project and expressed satisfaction such tangible cooperation being realized in the education sector, one of the priority areas of Mongolia-Canada relations. She also emphasized the importance of aligning the project with Canada’s Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) program to ensure mutually beneficial and sustainable cooperation in the field of vocational and technical education.
