AMBASSADOR RECEIVED AUTHOR OF "LE SPLEEN D'OULAN-BATOR"

Ambassador of Mongolia to Canada E.Sarantogos received Canadian journalist and author Jean-Frédéric Légaré-Tremblay at the Embassy of Mongolia on July 24, 2026.

Jean-Frédéric Légaré-Tremblay wrote and published his book “Le Spleen d’Oulan-Bator” (The Melancholy of Ulaanbaatar) in French, based on his impressions and memories from his travels in Mongolia and its life and culture. In February 2026, he held book launch events in Gatineau, Montreal and Quebec City, Canada, for Canadian readers and audiences.

During the meeting, Ambassador E.Sarantogos expressed her appreciation to Jean-Frédéric Légaré-Tremblay for his contribution to introducing Mongolia among Canadian readers through his book.

The two sides exchanged views on further collaboration to promote Mongolia in the French-speaking regions of Canada, particularly in major cities such as Montreal and Quebec City, as well as potential cooperation with universities and research institutions in those cities to support Mongolian studies.

Mr. Légaré-Tremblay works at the University of Montreal and has extensive professional experience in journalism. He is also one of the founders of the Quebec Foundation for International Journalism.
